Jurassic World Rebirth reanimated the South Korean box office over the weekend, taking $5.64m and accounting for nearly half of all tickets sold from July 4-6.

The latest in Universal’s dinosaur franchise rolled out on 1,645 screens across the territory and recorded 804,654 admissions across the three-day weekend, with a 45.2% revenue share of the overall box office, according to the Korean Film Council’s tracking service Kobis. It has a cume of $7.38m from 1.06 million admissions since opening on July 2.

The US film proved the second highest grossing opening of 2025 to date in South Korea after Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17, which opened with $7.12m from 980,514 admissions from February 28 to March 2.

Jurassic World Rebirth also boosted collective takings from the top 10 to $12.1m, up from $6.9 the previous weekend and the highest figure recorded for the top 10 this year to date.

Local horror-thriller Noise ranked second in terms of admissions, recording 326,268 ticket sales and taking $2.33m – holding off competition from a raft of Hollywood tentpole titles. It has taken $4.76m from 673,485 admissions since being release on June 25.

Directed by Kim Soo-jin, it stars Lee Sun-bin as a deaf woman trying to find her younger sister who has vanished in their apartment building, which is plagued by mysterious noises and a malevolent presence.

In third, Brad Pitt vehicle F1 recorded 320,670 admissions and grossed $2.6m over the weekend, bringing its cume after two weekends to $7.8m and nearly 1 million tickets sold.

How To Train Your Dragon ranked fourth, taking $687,000 from 97,211 admissions, for a cume of $12.3m after a month on release. Pixar animation Elio came fifth, adding $457,000 and 68,418 admissions to bring its total to $3.6m and more than 540,000 admissions.

Korean superhero feature Hi-Five dipped to sixth place, taking $94,000 from 13,794 admissions. Since opening on May 30, the film has taken $12.7m from 1.87 million admissions and ranks as the seventh biggest film overall at the 2025 box office to date.
