Rising UK talent Kit Connor is in early talks to star in Alex Garland’s live-action film based on video game Elden Ring, according to reports.
Connor broke through in Netflix newborn adult series Heartstopper, set to conclude with a TV film to be shot this summer, and was named among Screen’s Stars of Tomorrow in 2023. He has appeared in features including Ready Player One and Rocketman and was part of the ensemble cast of Garland and Ray Mendoza’s recent Iraq war action drama Warfare.
Garland was confirmed last week to write and direct the Elden Ring feature for A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment. The fantasy role-playing game is based on a story by George R R Martin, the author whose books were the basis for Game Of Thrones. Created under the guidance of FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game was released in 2022 and has shipped more than 30m units worldwide. A spin-off game, Elden Ring Nightreign, is being launched worldwide this month.
The film version of Elden Ring will be produced by Peter Rice with Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA, Martin and Vince Gerardis.
The news of Connor’s possible involvement in the film was first reported by Deadline.
