Lindsay Lohan is currently touring the globe to promote Freakier Friday, the sequel to her cult film, which was released in 2004. And 21 years after the first movie, she’s not hesitating to seek inspiration from her own filmography.
The fashion show began off the red carpet. While on a trip to New York, Lohan wore outfits that hid a few references to elderly film projects—courtesy of her stylist, Andrew Mukamal. The first look? A yellow tweed ensemble by Balmain that could have come straight out of Clueless protagonist Cher Horowitz’s closet. But in fact, the outfit was a reference to an entirely different character: one of the twins Lohan played in the 1998 Disney film The Parent Trap.
As Annie, Lohan wore not tweed, but both a black and yellow checkered skirt suit—a very chic look, especially for a adolescent girl at summer camp—and a butter yellow sweater, still a trendy color in 2025. All three looks were accessorized with a headband, a key trend for back-to-school 2024—completing these preppy outfits.
Lohan also winked at Hallie, the other twin she played in The Parent Trap. To do so, the blonde opted for a Roberto Cavalli dress from the pre-fall 2025 collection, featuring an integrated corset to emphasize her waist. A pair of Khaite x Oliver Peoples sunglasses and a Roberto Cavalli faux-bag phone case completed the floral- and peacock-patterned look.
The actor continued her fashion marathon in Los Angeles on July 22, wearing a dress worthy of a Disney princess. Her gown was tailor-made Miu Miu, a supple pink creation with silver highlights, a fitted bodice, and a fuller underskirt. The enchantment continued on its straps, encrusted with silver gems.
A few days later, Lohan reappeared on the red carpet as a less conventional princess. She ditched her ball gown in favor of a white Jacquemus midi-dress with tulle stockings. Like her butter yellow look or her Roberto Cavalli dress, the outfit also evoked the aughts: It was reminiscent of Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic look in the opening credits of Sex and the City. Lohan followed in the New York journalist’s footsteps by slipping on a pair of Jimmy Choo Leo heels—also worn by Carrie on the series, from the brand’s The Archive: 1997–2001 collection, launched last May.
Lindsay Lohan is not Mukamal’s first VIP client. He also outfitted Vanessa Kirby’s pregnant belly during her Fantastic Four promotional tour. On July 31, at the London premiere of Freakier Friday, the stylist pulled off another master stroke: Lohan appeared in a purple dress that reinterpreted her look in the final scene of the first Freaky Friday. Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s creation, covered with floral and silver details, hugged the actor’s silhouette. The little extra detail? A vintage Judith Leiber mini bag in the shape of a red electric guitar, another reminder of the first film.
