Can you believe it’s been eight years since Lynne Ramsay last hit our screens with the hammer-wielding, Joaquin Phoenix-led You Were Never Really Here? In the meantime, her bold, visually striking, and often bleak storytelling has been sorely missed. The good news? Ramsay is back, and it looks like we’ll soon have the chance to leave the cinema feeling miserable (in a good way) all over again with her recent film, Die My Love. Watch the trailer here:

The trailer opens with the upbeat ‘The Clapping Song’, introducing us to Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson’s on-screen couple, but it’s very quickly clear this story will plunge into much darker territory. According to the official description, Die, My Love is described as “a portrait of a woman engulfed by love and madness” – Lawrence’s dance moves in the trailer absolutely radiate those mad vibes. There’s a hint of 2024’s Nightbitch (with Lawrence quite literally barking at a dog), but we’re sure Ramsay will take us on her own wild journey here.

The trailer places Jennifer Lawrence front and centre, returning to intense drama after her recent comedic turn in No Hard Feelings. Meanwhile, Pattinson’s run of hit films shows no sign of slowing. Already, there’s plenty of on-screen chemistry — though that shot of a knife doesn’t exactly inspire confidence that this will be a happily ever after for the couple. Ramsay’s cast is rounded out by acclaimed actors including LaKeith Stanfield, Sissy Spacek, and Nick Nolte. Behind the camera, Martin Scorsese is producing and Seamus McGarvey shooting.

Will Ramsay’s long-awaited comeback be worth the wait? We’ll find out when Die My Love hits UK and Irish cinemas on 14 November.
