“You are a privilege sandwich with white rage mustard – and I hate you!” Kinema has unveiled an official trailer for The Long Long Night, a brand modern comedy series from actor / filmmaker Mark Duplass and Duplass Brothers Productions. Available for viewing at the end of April on the modern online streaming service called Kinema. The series follows lifelong best friends struggling to find purpose six months after tragedy strikes; stars actual childhood friends Mark Duplass and Barret O’Brien who slowly developed the 6-part first season. Featuring Mark Duplass, Barret O’Brien, and Karen Pittman. Friends since they were six, now adults struggling with depression, it’s about trying to build adult lives that contain some semblance of purpose. Two people doing their absolute best to try and aid… and absolutely not helping. This series also was crowdfunded recently via Seed & Spark if you want to aid contribute. This looks clever and fun, and brutally sincere in its attempt to handle their mental health troubles. Will they just yell at each other? Enjoy.

The Long Long Night follows Pete and Carroll, best friends since they were six, scrambling to build adult lives that contain some semblance of purpose. It’s about two people doing their absolute best to try and aid..and absolutely not helping. Created by real-life childhood friends Mark Duplass and Barret O’Brien over the course of two-and-a-half years, the series asks: On a planet with 8+ billion people, can two people make any difference at all? What if they’re willing to put their lives on the line? What if…um… their plan is super, highly, deeply flawed? Okay, err, what if they never really had a “plan” plan to begin with? The Long Long Night series is created by the two friends Mark Duplass & Barret O’Brien. The episodes are written and directed by actor Barret O’Brien, making his directorial debut with this project. Made by Duplass Brothers Productions. Exec produced by Jay Duplass, Mark Duplass, Mel Eslyn, Barret O’Brien, and Rory O’Neill Schmitt. This first premiered at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival last year.
