Gird your loins: Miranda Priestly is back. Here’s Meryl Streep in all her icy glory, in the first photo of her taken on the New York set of The Devil Wears Prada 2. Streep is playing the same fashion queen she brought to life almost two decades ago, wearing a beige trench coat, a brown leather pencil skirt, and a purple V-neck blouse. Her flawless platinum blond hair, obscure glasses, and gold earrings remain unchanged.

At the age of 76—almost 77—Streep embodies Miranda with the same authority and refinement that made the character so indelible in 2006. But this Miranda may not be at the top of the fashion world anymore. The modern film reportedly finds her struggling with both a changed media landscape and the digital wave that has swept through glossy magazines. The sequel, also set in New York City, promises a glamorous reboot peppered with ruthless humor and style. The film’s production code name is “Cerulean,” an homage to the cult monologue about a certain shade of blue from the first film.

Beyond Streep, the film’s cast is stacked with familiar faces. Anne Hathaway is Andy Sachs again, always running through the streets of Manhattan. Emily Blunt returns to clash with Miranda, now as a luxury-media executive with an eye for publicity. Stanley Tucci, Tracie Thoms, and other veterans are confirmed to return as well. We will also have a few modern faces: Kenneth Branagh will play Miranda’s husband, while Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Rachel Bloom, Pauline Chalamet, and Simone Ashley are in undisclosed roles.

The film will be released in theaters on May 1, 2026. Miranda, we are waiting for you.
