EXCLUSIVE: Mubi has snapped up Julia Ducournau’s genre-hopping drama Alpha for Latin America and India among a slew of global deals for Charades and FilmNation Entertainment on the Cannes Competition title.

Further deals include to Italy (I Wonder Pictures), Spain (Youplanet Pictures, Caramel Films), Switzerland (Filmcoopi), Germany and Austria (Plaion), Greece (Spentzos Film SA), Portugal (Alambique), Scandinavia (Non Stop Entertainment),  the Baltics (Non Stop Entertainment, Kino Pavasaris), Bulgaria and the Adriatics (MCF Megacom Film), CIS (Exponenta Film), Hungary (Mozinet), Romania (Bad Unicorn),Ukraine (Adastra), Israel (Lev Cinema), Turkey (Mars Films), Australia and New Zealand (Kismet), Hong Kong (Golden Scene Company), Indonesia (Falcon), South Korea (Challan) and Vietnam (Aeon Entertainment).

Neon has already scooped the film for the US and Canada and Curzon will release the film in the UK and Ireland. 

The film follows the titular Alpha,a troubled 13-year-old and her mother whose world collapses the day Alpha  returns from school with a tattoo on her arm.

Tahar Rahim and Golshifteh Farahani star alongside newcomer Mélissa Boros.

It is produced by France’s Mandarin & Compagnie and Kallouche Cinema. Belgium’s Frakas Productions coproduce.
