“I thought it was publicity stunt by some film company, maybe Guy Ritchie or somebody.” Netflix unveiled an official trailer for a doc series called The Diamond Heist, another true crime series this time about a massive diamond heist in London in the year 2000. From filmmaker Jesse Vile, the 3-part doc series will be streaming on Netflix in April. A stranger-than-fiction crime caper follows the attempted robbery of a renowned diamond, told by the gangsters who did it and the police on their tail. Executive produced by Guy Ritchie, and created by the award-winning team behind Man on Wire. In 2000, a group of London criminals plan an audacious heist: ram-raid the Millennium Dome, steal diamond and escape by boat, but the police are surveilling them – the Flying Squad are watching. Their plan: apply a bulldozer to break into the Millennium Dome in broad daylight, steal the world’s second biggest flawless diamond, worth £200 million, and escape by speedboat on the Thames. I always enjoy a good crime story told by the actual criminals so we can really know what was going on & not any faulty speculation. What a crazy heist! Looks like it’s worth a watch.
