“A bull shark is not just any fish.” Blue Fox Ent. & Saban Films have revealed an official trailer for an indie shark movie horror-thriller called Fear Below, made by Oz filmmaker Matthew Holmes. Ready for release early this May and will hit theaters in addition to VOD right away. Set in 1946 Australia, a struggling team of divers from the Sea Dog Diving Company are hired to locate and retrieve a sunken car in a river. When their efforts are thwarted by a highly-aggressive female bull shark, the team soon discover they are working for a ruthless criminal gang attempting to recover their stolen gold bullion, who prove to be as treacherous as the beast lurking beneath the surface. Starring Hermione Corfield, Jake Ryan, Jacob Junior Nayinggul, Arthur Angel, Josh McConville, Maximillian Johnson, & Clayton Watson. Nice to see something different in a shark movie. A period horror where the divers are wearing those gigantic, clunky senior school diving suits – known as standard diving dress or copper hat or hefty gear. This looks pretty good! Get a look below.

“Treasure comes at a price.” When a gang of ruthless criminals loses their stolen gold when their car sinks into a river, they turn to a team of desperate, down-on-their-luck divers to retrieve it. What begins as a high-stakes recovery mission quickly spirals when the divers soon find themselves in the company of a vicious bull shark, but the dangers deep within the water are only a fraction of the dangers that wait for them up above. Fear Below is directed by Australian filmmaker Matthew Holmes, director of the films Twin Rivers, The Legend of Ben Hall, and The Cost previously, plus a few other brief films. The screenplay is written by Gregory Moss and Matthew Holmes. Produced by Michael Favelle and Blake Northfield. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Saban Films & Blue Fox will release Fear Below in select US theaters + on VOD starting May 2nd, 2025 coming soon. Anyone want to watch this?
