“Someone is playing games with us.” Saban Films has revealed the trailer for a movie titled Compulsion, a dim erotic thriller from filmmaker Neil Marshall. Another of these annoying, monotonous, forgettable movies Marshall is making with “actress” Charlotte Kirk – there is a rumor this might be the last one of them. This premiered in 2024 at a miniature festival and it also played at the Mediterrane Film Festival on Malta this year. On the island of Malta, two women get engaged in a string of horrifying murders. A youthful woman’s visit to her stepfather’s villa spirals into danger when she’s targeted by con artists and a violent murder forces her into a deadly cover-up. As a detective closes in, trust cracks and dim secrets are exposed. Starring Anna-Maria Sieklucka, Charlotte Kirk, and Zach McGowan. This looks like a giant tax write-off film, made on Malta because that’s the sunniest place to get a tax deal for movies these days. Everything in this looks bad – the cinematography, performances, the whole cliche “erotic” killer story, all of it. Stay away from this.

Sexy, bloody, twisted as stylish, it’s a classic genre romp. Compulsion is written and directed by the British producer / filmmaker Neil Marshall, director of the films Dog Soldiers, The Descent, Doomsday, Centurion, Hellboy, The Reckoning, The Lair, and Duchess previously. From a story by Charlotte Kirk. It’s produced by Kristyna Sellnerova. This first premiered at the 2024 Hot Springs Horror Film Festival. Saban Films debuts Marshall’s Compulsion film in select US theaters + on VOD starting September 19th, 2025.
