At long last, the Oscar nominations 2025 have been revealed, giving shape to this unpredictable season. Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang announced the nominees on Thursday morning from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles. “Between us, we’ve had three Diet Cokes, an entire pack of cigarettes, and one Adderall,” joked Sennott from the stage. The audience gets to guess which of them had what, added Yang.

It’s been a very competitive year—making our nominations predictions more challenging than usual—so we’re expecting to see several surprises and a few snubs.

Films that have been leading the pack this year include The Brutalist and Emilia Pérez, which both won best-picture awards at the Golden Globes and are expected to fare well in multiple categories. Conclave, Wicked, and Anora have also run forceful campaigns and fared well with critics groups and other bodies.

For months now, the best-actress race has been one to watch, with several A-list actresses like Nicole Kidman (Babygirl) and Angelina Jolie (Maria) competing. But some overdue momentum (and a Globes win) for I’m Still Here’s Fernanda Torres pushed her into the race just as voting began. On the best-actor side, Adrien Brody (The Brutalist) and Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown) have been forceful front-runners, but the rest of the group remains unformed.

Due to the devastating fires that swept across Los Angeles two weeks ago, the Academy pushed the nominations announcement, originally scheduled for January 17, to January 23. The Academy also canceled the annual nominees luncheon that was scheduled for February. The 2025 Oscars ceremony is still set to take place on March 2, with Conan O’Brien hosting.

To find out who might be taking the stage as a winner on March 2, read on for the full list of nominations.
