As Outfest makes its triumphant return with a four-day screening event in partnership with HBO Max, the LGBTQ+ film festival has revealed the first titles in its lineup.

Running Nov. 6-9 in Los Angeles, OutfestNext will feature 20 films, spanning features, tiny programs and archival selections, screening at the LA LGBT Center’s historic Renberg Theatre and the Look Cinema in Glendale.

The weekend kicks off with All That We Love from director Yen Tan (1985, Pit Stop), following Emma (Margaret Cho) as she navigates the loss of her dog and renewed feelings for her estranged ex-husband. The cast also features Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Kenneth Choi, Alice Lee, Missi Pyle, Atsuko Okatsuka and Devin Bostick.

Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies) will introduce his feature directorial debut Dust Bunny, also on the opening night. In the film, a 10-year-old girl asks her hitman neighbor for aid killing the monster under her bed that she believes has eaten her family. The cast includes Mads Mikkelsen, Sigourney Weaver and David Dastmalchian.

Greg Berlanti’s 2000 debut The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy will celebrate its 25th anniversary, sponsored by OUT@Sony Pictures. Rowan Haber’s documentary We Are Pat, about Julia Sweeney’s controversial SNL character, will also screen.

Other confirmed narrative films include CAMP by Avalon Fast, Dreams in Nightmares by Shatara Michelle Ford, and Perro Perro by Marco Berger. Documentaries include Niñxs by Kani Lapuerta and State of Firsts by Chase Joynt.

“We are enormously grateful to our sponsors, artists, and the Outfest community for helping bring the organization back to life,” says Christopher Racster, Outfest’s interim executive director. “The OutfestNEXT lineup this year reflects our commitment to continue uplifting all queer voices with the help of our community. Every film we are showing this year embodies our vision for the future of cinema, ensuring the media we consume reflects the communities that create it.”

Last month, Deadline exclusively announced that Outfest is back from a two-year hiatus with OutfestNext, marking the relaunch of the Los Angeles LGBTQ+ film festival’s programming as the nonprofit rehires key staff members who were placed on leave in 2023, when the organization endured financial woes, a change in leadership and unionizing.
