Steven Knight has been set to write the script for the next James Bond film, adding another major talent to the inventive team for the first Bond film under the control of Amazon MGM Studios.
Knight’s addition to the project comes a month after Denis Villeneuve was named as director of the yet-to-be-titled film, and four months after Amy Pascal and David Heyman were announced as producers of the modern Bond project, through their Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films. Tanya Lapointe will serve as executive producer.
Amazon MGM closed its deal with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson to gain inventive control of the James Bond IP in early March.
British multi-hyphenate Knight is best known as the creator, executive producer and writer Bafta-winning TV series Peaky Blinders. His other dramatic series include Taboo, See, Rogue Heroes and All The Light We Cannot See. He also co-created the international game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
Knight’s feature script credits include Dirty Pretty Things (which earned him Oscar and Bafta nominations), Eastern Promises and Spencer. He wrote and directed Hummingbird, Locke and Serenity.
His upcoming projects include the Netflix feature installment of Peaky Blinders and drama series House Of Guinness, also for Netflix.
