House of David is set for an explosive return as the official trailer of Season 2 is here. The second season of the Biblical epic premieres on October 5, 2025, with its first two episodes premiering exclusively on the Wonder Project subscription channel within Prime Video. Season 2 will detail the aftermath of David’s battle with Goliath at the end of the first season. The show will return to chronicle the journey of the biblical figure and future king, David, played by Michael Iskander, as he rises to the throne. He’ll have to navigate “palace politics, his family’s jealousy, and a growing romance,” per a synopsis, as he “steps deeper into his destiny and learns what it means to become a great leader.”
The trailer kicks off with Iskander’s character, David, in the aftermath of his battle with Golliath (Martyn Ford), even as the Philistine King of Gath, Achish (Alexander Uloom), attempts to kill him. His famed, biblical return to Hebron with songs being sung of him, even as Saul informs him that he is now set to become a “commander of men.” Soon enough, the scheming for the throne returns as there are fresh obstacles that lie between David and his journey to power. “A great king is fair and compassionate,” David says to Saul (Ali Suliman) in the trailer, before glimpses of a romance with Saul’s daughter, Mychal (Indy Lewis), and fiery battles where David quickly emerges as leader among the armies of Saul. The trailer goes on to reveal Queen Ahinoam’s (Ayelet Zurer) objection to having David around and the Prophet Samuel’s (Stephen Lang) insistence that Saul has been rejected by Adonai. “God chose me,” David says in the trailer at the end.
Who Stars in ‘House of David’?
Created by Wonder Project founder Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn (Ordinary Angels), House of David tells the sweeping story of David beyond his legendary battle with Goliath. Season 1 introduced Iskander as David, alongside Suliman as King Saul, Zurer as Queen Ahinoam, Lang as the prophet Samuel, Ethan Kai as Jonathan, Yali Topol Margalith as Mirab, and Oded Fehr as Abner. The second season will continue exploring David’s early life, relationships, and the mounting pressure of his divine destiny.
Speaking with Collider’s Christopher McPherson in a previous interview, Iskander reflected on how the series gives an in-depth look at an iconic figure:
“I think just the nature of the show, having been a series instead of a movie or a short film, I think just lends itself to truly finding all the little moments about what it means to be a human during that time, and what it means to be up against someone like Goliath. And it just allows the show to really dig into every single character, every single relationship, the heart of the story. And we just, we get to take our time and tell it.”
The Wonder Project subscription tier launches the same day as House of David’s return, priced at $8.99/month or $89.99/year in the U.S. The subscription will feature more than 125 licensed titles and over 1,000 hours of programming at launch, ranging from TV classics like Mr. Bean, Sherlock, and Pride and Prejudice.
House of David Season 2 premieres on October 5 with its first two episodes on Wonder Project’s subscription on Prime Video.
