“Filmmaking doesn’t get much bigger than this… This is the way Mortal Kombat is meant to be seen.” WB has unveiled a quick making of featurette during New York Comic-Con for action sequel Mortal Kombat II (MK2), based on the popular video game series. This is a follow-up to the most recent live-action Mortal Kombat movie in 2021, returning again for another martial arts showdown. Fan fave champions—joined by Johnny Cage himself—are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the murky rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders. Let them fight! “We had up the ante on every aspect,” says the actor playing Shao Kahn. Karl Urban stars as Johnny Cage (and his movie his movie Uncaged Fury), alongside Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, and Damon Herriman, with Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, & Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi / Scorpion. This is just a very brief promo video – and a reminder they’ve delayed the release of this movie from October (it would be out now!) until May 2026 kicking off the summer season next year.
