Russell Brand has pleaded not guilty to charges of rape, sexual assault and indecent assault at a hearing held at London’s Southwark Crown Court.

The UK actor and comedian is charged with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault, one count of oral rape and two counts of sexual assault, in connection with incidents involving four different women that took place between 1999 and 2005.

This is the first time Brand has formally denied all five charges against him, having previously stated, in a video posted to social media, that he “never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity”.

The actor was granted bail earlier this month, with his trial scheduled to begin on June 3, 2026.

According to the BBC, Brand did not speak to reporters as he entered the court this morning (May 30).

After a successful stand-up and broadcasting career, Brand rose to prominence in 2008 with roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him To The Greek and Rock Of Ages.

The allegations against Brand first came to lightweight in a joint investigation released by The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 Dispatches in 2023.
