EXCLUSIVE: Le Pacte has closed several deals for Left-Handed Girl, Shih-Ching Tsou’s Taiwanese drama that premiered in Critics’ Week at Cannes and is produced by Anora director Sean Baker.

The film has been acquired for Italy (I Wonder Pictures), Spain (Avalon), Benelux (September Film), Japan (Starcat), South Korea (The Coup Distribution), Poland (So Films), Scandinavia (Selmer Media), Hong Kong (Golden Scene), Baltics (Kino Pavasaris), Greece (Cinobo) and Israel (New Cinema).

It follows a deal announced yesterday with Netflix, which scooped up rights for most of the world including North America and the UK.

It marks the solo directorial debut for Tsou, known for her longtime collaboration with Oscar-winning filmmaker Baker on features including Take Out, Starlet, Tangerine, The Florida Project and Red Rocket.

Baker, who also co-wrote and edited the film, produces with Mike Goodridge at UK’s Good Chaos, Tsou through Taiwan’s Left-Handed Girl Film Production, and Jean Labadie and Alice Labadie at France’s Le Pacte. Le Pacte is also handling the French release and international sales.

The film won the Gan Foundation Award for Distribution and Golden Rail Award at Cannes.

It is being positioned as a potential Taiwanese submission for best international feature at the 2026 Academy Awards.
