A fresh Starfleet class is preparing to boldly go where no one has gone before as the latest Star Trek spin-off brings fans down to earth at Comic-Con.
During Saturday’s Star Trek universe presentation in Hall H, fans were treated to the first trailer for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, in which Holly Hunter‘s Chancellor Nahla Ake, and Paul Giamatti‘s villainous Nus Braka are both introduced, along with some fresh faces.
“And so we begin. I’m Captain Nahla Ake, chancellor of Starfleet Academy. We’re all the first academy class to return to our campus in San Fancisco after more than 120 years. Some of you are here for your families, some for yourselves,” she tells them. “Together, you are the best and the brightest from across the galaxy, a tapestry that is Starfleet.”
Nahla’s speech concludes with a classic nod to the OG series. “So, go out and seek, explore. Boldly go where no one has gone before. It is my great honor to welcome you all to Starfleet Academy,” she says.
The sneak peek’s hopeful message is followed by Nus Braka’s menacing march down a murky corridor as he whistles the original Star Trek theme.

Premiering in early 2026, Starfleet Academy‘s adolescent cast of cadets includes Sandro Rosta as Caleb Mir, Karim Diané as Jay-Den Kraag, Kerrice Brooks as Series Acclimation Mil, a.k.a. Sam, George Hawkins as Darem Reymi and Bella Shepard as Genesis Lythe. The series also features Gina Yashere as Commander Lura Thok, Zoë Steiner as Tarima Sadal, and returning franchise stars Robert Picardo as The Doctor, Tig Notaro as Jett Reno and Oded Fehr as Admiral Vance.
Saturday’s presentation featured a Starfleet Academy panel moderated by franchise veteran Picardo, with executive producers and co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau, as well as Hunter and the cadets.
