Carlos Marqués-Marcet’s musical feature They Will Be Dust is set to open the 29th edition of Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (POFF) in Estonia as part of the festival’s Catalan focus.

The film, which stars Angelina Molina and Alfred Castro, will open the festival on November 7 at the Alexela Concert Hall.

They Will Be Dust first premiered in the Toronto Platform section in 2024 and also opened the 69th Valladolid film festival. The plot surrounds a woman with an incurable disease who goes to Switzerland with her husband so they can end their lives together.

It launches Tallinn’s Catalan Focus which includes 28 feature films, three of which are world premieres. These are Julia de Paz Solvas’s Good Daughter, playing in competition; Lluís Miñarro’s Emergency Exit, in the Rebels with a Cause strand; and Amanda Sans Pantling’s Miss Jobson, playing in the international documentary section.

Further Catalan titles screening includes Oliver Laxe’s Sirât, Lav Diaz’s Magellan and Carla Simon’s Romeria.

The festival runs November 7-23.
