At long last, there’s an end in sight for followers of Dallas Jenkins’ biblical epic, The Chosen. Today, Prime Video has announced that the series will return for its fifth season on June 15, kicking off the countdown that will lead viewers to the moments of Jesus’ (Jonathan Roumie) life before being taken into custody and eventually crucified. In addition to the electrifying premiere news, we also have a trailer that foreshadows the drama set to go down when the production returns. For many folks, this will be the second time they’re taking in the events of Season 5 as it already celebrated a successful cinematic release last month. Nevertheless, it’s a elated moment for fans who have been waiting for the next set of episodes since Season 4 dipped out back in June 2024.

Life is winding down for Jesus in the trailer for Season 5 of The Chosen. The mood quickly changes as we watch Roumie’s character make his way into Jerusalem only to be turned into a villain in the days to follow. As the general public’s view of Jesus begins to skew towards the negative, religious leaders, including Caiaphus (Richard Fancy), take hold of the sudden change and further their quest to sully the figure’s name. Finally, we reach the meeting table that will host the infamous Last Supper where Jesus breaks bread with his followers for one final time before Judas (Luke Dimyan) betrays him — putting him on a course for the cross.

The Chosen recently pulled off a gargantuan financial feat at the box office when the eight-episode fifth season was screened in cinemas. Beginning at the end of March, a few episodes were dropped every week leading up to the Christian acknowledgment of Holy Week — during which Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday occur. From one week to the next, audiences turned up in droves, eager to see Jenkins’ vision and depiction of some of the most famed scenes from the Bible play out on the substantial screen.

When Will We Get ‘The Chosen’ Season 6?

With Season 5 on the way, fans are wondering when they can expect Season 6 of The Chosen to grace their screens. Although the continuation of the story is now in production, it will be quite some time until it makes its way onto Prime Video. Recently, Jenkins asked his followers for “patience” as he and the crew work twelve-hour days to develop the next set of episodes. In a message to fans he said,

“The process of getting these seasons to you at the cadence that we’ve been doing has been extraordinarily taxing on the team. The quality control process has been much faster and tighter than most shows and movies. That’s caused a lot of pain, a lot of challenges… The team that works on this is extraordinarily stretched thin, and so it’s just a very, very difficult process… They’ve been begging me to give a little bit more of a cushion. And so we’re going to definitely be doing that for future seasons.”
