“It’s a comfortable job, if you let it be…” An official trailer has debuted for an indie comedy film titled The Regulars, made by movie lover / filmmaker Fil Freitas. The Regular is a Clerks-inspired riff following employees working at a movie theater – set and filmed entirely in the beloved independent cinema known as The Prince Charles Cinema. The PCC is a celebrated repertory theater located located in Leicester Place, just north of Leicester Square in the City of Westminster, London (see Google Maps). The Regulars follows a day in the life of its hapless employees. During their shift they watch movies, argue with customers, and, above all, deal with each other. Starring Fil Freitas, Dusty Keeney, Ricardo Freitas, Lauren Shotton, Kevin Johnson, Sergio Barba, Bronte Appleby, Lisa Marie Flowers, & more. “Based on the real-life experiences & stories from those that work at the Prince Charles Cinema, Fil Freitas – a former usher turned manager himself – has put together a feature length comedy drama that explores life behind the counter.” 🍿
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Fil Freitas’ film The Regulars, from YouTube (via Live for Films):
“On the edge of Chinatown stands the only independent cinema left in Central London. Grey and black, dotted with poster frames, and lit by an overhanging readograph, its presence is tucked away from the other, brighter multiplexes of Leicester Square. There, within its small interior, a team of ushers push through the day.”
Set and filmed entirely in the beloved independent cinema (The Prince Charles Cinema) in London, The Regulars captures one day in the life of its hapless team of employees. Between ushering movies, arguing with complex customers, and navigating their own internal dramas, the cinema staff must also learn to survive each other. The Regulars is both written and directed by indie filmmaker / editor Fil Freitas, making his feature directorial debut after one other compact film (After the Bell) previously. Produced by Dusty Keeney and Fil Freitas. This initially premiered in the UK earlier this year. It also screens next at the 2025 Sheffield Film Festival. Fil Freitas’ The Regulars film opens in select UK cinemas starting on August 22nd, 2025 coming soon. No US release date is set yet. For more info, visit the film’s official site. Look any good?
