The third installment of the revived Criminal Minds series arrives in less than a month, and with it comes the return of the ever-infuriating Elias Voit. Voit is one of several characters set to return in the current season, as revealed in an all-new teaser from Paramount+, hinting at the chaos ahead for the Behavioral Analysis Unit —BAU. Of course, the BAU is the center of attention in the clip, confirming the return of fan favorites: David Rossi, Jennifer “JJ” Jareau, Penelope Garcia, Dr Tara Lewis, Luke Alvez, Emily Prentiss and Tyler Green.
Kicking off with the somber-looking team (besides Penelope) at the beach, the Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 trailer progresses to Voit being shown pictures of a couple of murdered victims. Also, Prentiss is heard saying, “Can I tell you a secret? You think this job is about staring down evil, but it’s not.” She is speaking to a confused Tyler, who responds, “Then what is it about?” Meanwhile, given the trailer’s content, fans can expect a masked killer, trapped victims in a container, a buried female victim, as well as something sinister ahead for JJ.
Season 3 of Criminal Minds: Evolution premieres on May 8 on Paramount+ and is expected to feature an original star who hasn’t been in the past two seasons. That person is Matthew Gray Gubler, who last appeared in Criminal Minds Season 15 as the genius Spencer Reid. Although he wasn’t included in the newly released trailer, he has been confirmed to reprise his role in one episode of this season. In addition to Reid and the main characters of the series, a current main character was previously added to this season: Dr. Julia Ochoa, to be portrayed by Aimee Garcia.
‘Criminal Minds’ Has A Promising Future Ahead
While the world eagerly anticipates Criminal Minds: Evolution’s epic comeback, there’s even more terrific news about the crime drama. Earlier in March, the series was renewed for another season, making it the nineteenth season overall, counting the original run on CBS. Details about the installment are yet to be unveiled, which is no surprise considering Season 3’s imminent arrival. Speaking of which, it is set six months after the events of the Season 2 finale and the prison attack against Voit. And in it, the BAU must once again team back up with the villain when his band of followers on the dim web wreak havoc across the country.
