A tense moment quickly turns into an all-smiles reunion between Garrett Hedlund (Tulsa King) and Tramell Tillman (Severance) in an exclusive to Collider sneak peek of the upcoming film, Barron’s Cove. Set for arrival in cinemas and on VOD on June 6, the Well Go USA-backed project marks the feature-length directorial debut of Evan Ari Kelman, who also penned the screenplay. The incredibly gripping and nail-biting story follows a grieving father named Caleb (Hedlund), who will do anything in his quest to find out the truth surrounding the tragic death of his teenage son and only child. His journey takes him on a path that will blur the lines of morality after he decides to kidnap another boy who may or may not know the truth about his deceased son.
In today’s exclusive sneak peek, Caleb (Hedlund) is breaking into a tool shed when he’s confronted by Felix (Tillman). Combative and protective at first, Felix’s threats soon turn to cheerful greetings after Caleb removes his hood and reveals his face. The two men embrace and exchange pleasantries before Felix allows Caleb into the storage unit. Once inside, the latter begins sorting through saws, knives, and the like, which immediately raises his friend’s suspicions, causing him to question what kind of construction job Caleb is preparing for.
In addition to the two incredibly talented performers featured in the first look, Barron’s Cove also includes an impressive ensemble comprised of the likes of Hamish Linklater (Midnight Mass), Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect franchise), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Raúl Castillo (Smile 2), and Stephen Lang (Don’t Breathe).
Where Do I Recognize the Stars of ‘Barron’s Cove’ From?
Kelman has quite the lineup of familiar faces for his first foray into feature-length filmmaking. Leading man, Hedlund, can currently be seen in Taylor Sheridan’s hit crime drama series, Tulsa King, and has previously been spotted in films like Friday Night Lights, Four Brothers, and perhaps most notably, Tron: Legacy. Meanwhile, Hedlund’s much younger co-star, Convery, has already made a name for himself in the business thanks to his leading role in Netflix’s Sweet Tooth, and the films Cocaine Bear and The Monkey.
Appearing as a rising politician and the father of Convery’s character, Linklater is known to fans of Mike Flanagan as the minister in the latter’s critically acclaimed Netflix series, Midnight Mass, and can be heard as one of the most legendary superheroes in Batman: Caped Crusader. He also played a pivotal role in Noah Hawley’s Legion and appeared most recently on the massive screen in RaMell Ross’ adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s novel, The Nickel Boys.
