Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Amazon’s The Thomas Crown Affair and Warner Bros’ Practical Magic 2 are among some of the major productions filming in the UK this summer.
Tom Holland returns as Spider-Man for the fourth instalment in the Marvel/Sony epic which will begin filming in August at Pinewood Studios with reports of location shooting in Glasgow. Marvel is already shooting Avengers: Doomsday, WandaVision spin-off Vision Quest and series two of Star Wars: Ahsoka at Pinewood Studios for Disney+. Meanwhile, Sony looks to be commencing production soon on its four-film biopic of The Beatles starring Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Barry Keoghan and Joseph Quinn.
For Warner Bros, Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock will be at Leavesden for the Practical Magic sequel, directed by Susanne Bier. Also at the studio is HBO’s Harry Potter series and House Of The Dragon series three. Warner Bros has an untitled JJ Abrams project shooting at Leavesden since April as well.
Production begins in the UK on Focus Features’ Sense And Sensibility feature next month. Georgia Oakley is directing Daisy Edgar-Jones in the latest Jane Austen adaptation, which Working Title is producing. There are also reports that Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey will film in parts of the UK, including locations in Scotland, over the summer. The director’s Oppenheimer follow-up, also for Universal, has been in production for five months and has already shot in Morocco, Greece, Italy and LA.
