“We’re not quitters! We’re strong women with Italian blood in our souls.” Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a charming foodie comedy called Nonnas, made by filmmaker Stephen Chbosky (of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Wonder, and the musical Dear Evan Hansen). This is ready to hot up your home in May streaming on Netflix. After his mother passes away, one man named Joe Scaravella risks everything to honor her by opening an Italian restaurant with a group of local grandmothers as the chefs. Based on a true story, Nonnas is a heartfelt celebration of the love of food, and family and all the ingredients of life. Vince Vaughn stars as Joe, with the amazing Nonnas played by Susan Sarandon as Gia, Brenda Vaccaro as Antonella, Lorraine Bracco as Roberta, and Talia Shire as Teresa. The fun full cast also includes Joe Manganiello, Drea de Matteo, Campbell Scott, Michael Rispoli, with Linda Cardellini. As always, this just makes me so hungry, I want to eat every single dish they make in this. It all looks amazing! Dive in.

After the loss of his mother, Joe Scaravella (played by the always amusing Vince Vaughn) risks everything to honor her by opening an Italian restaurant with a group of local grandmothers as the chefs. “I really enjoyed the connection of food and family [and] the idea that love and culture was passed down through food and get-togethers, and that those gifts stay with us always,” Vaughn explains. Nonnas is a comedy directed by American filmmaker Stephen Chbosky, director of the movies The Four Corners of Nowhere, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Wonder, and the musical Dear Evan Hansen previously. The screenplay is written by Liz Maccie. Inspired by the life story of Jody Scaravella. Produced by Gigi Pritzker, Rachel Shane, Jack Turner. Netflix debuts Chbosky’s Nonnas film streaming on Netflix starting May 9th, 2025. Hungry?
