“Just try to enjoy the movie…” Alamo Drafthouse has debuted a very entertaining PSA video featuring comedian / writer / filmmaker Kyle Mooney talking about watching movies. Mooney directed the upcoming comedy Y2K (watch the trailer), being released by A24 in theaters this month. As part of a promo for Y2K and also to create a fun PSA, Mooney has recorded a two minute video for Alamo Drafthouse reminding audiences: don’t talk, don’t text. Yes, movie theater etiquette is as its all-time worst and even though this video may not stop people from being problematic, at least it’s a reminder that the Drafthouse cares. And they will kick you out for talking or texting. So – just don’t do it. Simple as that. Listen to Kyle! Get a demanding milkshake and relax and watch the movie. Brief intro via SXSW: “On the last night of 1999, two high school juniors crash a New Years Eve party, only to find themselves fighting for their lives in this dial-up disaster comedy.” Y2K (a reference to the Y2K New Years) is directed by American comedy actor / writer / filmmaker Kyle Mooney, now making his feature directorial debut after writing the script for Brigsby Bear, as well as episodes of “Saturday Morning All Star Hits!”, “Nathan For You”, and “Comedy Bang Bang: The Podcast” previously. The screenplay is written by Kyle Mooney and Evan Winter. Produced by Jonah Hill, Matt Dines, Alison Goodwin, Chris Storer, Cooper Wehde, Evan Winter. This first premiered at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year as a Headliner. A24 will debut Mooney’s Y2K in theaters nationwide starting December 6th, 2024 this fall. Who’s down?
