Scott Cooper’s Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere starring Jeremy Allen White will play as a Spotlight Gala in New York Film Festival (September 26-October 13) on September 28.

Cooper, White, Jeremy Strong, Odessa Young, other cast and Bruce Springsteen are expected to attend the screening. The feature recounts a challenging period in the legendary singer-songwriter’s career in as he records his celebrated 1982 album Nebraska, after the commercial success of The River left him eager to reconnect with his roots. At the same time he begins to sketch out the music for what will become another hit, Born In The U.S.A.

The drama’s “premiere” designation suggests the world premiere will take place at Telluride Film Festival in Colorado at the end of the month.

The cast includes Stephen Graham and Gaby Hoffmann as Springsteen’s parents, Paul Walter Hauser, and David Krumholtz. Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is produced by Cooper, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Eric Robinson, and Scott Stuber, with Tracey Landon and Zanes serving as executive producers. It will open via Disney/20th Century Studios on October 24.

Cooper’s 2009 directorial debut Crazy Heart earned Jeff Bridges the Academy Award for best actor. Cooper’s credits include Out Of The Furnace, Black Mass, and Hostiles.
