Emily In Paris is heading to…well, not France. The hit Netflix series, which stars Lily Collins, started back in 2020 and had Emily (Collins) moving to Paris and becoming the It-American girl among her French coworkers. From Emily’s fashion sense to unhinged social media posts, the show has captivated audiences and now, she’s heading off to the Mediterranean! Season 5 of the show will take place in Venice, Italy and after what Emily went through in Season 4, maybe she needs this.
Emily’s will they won’t they relationship with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) lead to her accepting a change in position and location at the end of Season 4. Season 3 led to Camille (Camille Razat) saying she was pregnant after Gabriel tried to break up with her and it resulted in Emily not knowing where she stood with him. But by the end of the season, she had a recent love interest and was moving on until Gabriel came back for her. And now fans can see what happens with Emily in Italy (which actually kind of rhymes this time) when the series returns on December 18!
The news comes with recent images of Emily taking on Venice, including her and Mindy (Ashley Park) walking arm in arm, Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) back in action, and the Paris team moving on without Emily being in Paris this time around. Which, maybe is a good thing. A change of scenery might support Emily realize that maybe she should just be with Gabriel after all. Or…maybe this recent love interest who is coming into her life? The synopsis for Season 5 is as follows: “Now the head of Agence Grateau Rome, Emily faces professional and romantic challenges as she adapts to life in a new city. But just as everything falls into place, a work idea backfires, and the fallout cascades into heartbreak and career setbacks. Seeking stability, Emily leans into her French lifestyle, until a big secret threatens one of her closest relationships. Tackling conflict with honesty, Emily emerges with deeper connections, renewed clarity, and a readiness to embrace new possibilities.”
Emily Takes Italy This Time Around
The joy of a show like Emily in Paris is that she isn’t necessarily a protagonist you want to root for. She makes mistakes, she lucks into random social media followers, and a lot of what makes her “special” is just her being privileged. And yet we love to watch what she does next. After all, she did move to Paris and not know any French and expect that to be okay and now she’s doing the same thing to the Italians. At least all of our favorites are returning for Season 5 of the show, even if Emily is going to be taking a “gondola” this time around.
You can see what Emily is up to when Emily in Paris returns for Season 5, this December 18!
