Scott Cooper’s Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen has been unveiled as the opening night film of the 39th AFI Fest (October 22-26).

The feature chronicles how The Boss conceived and recorded his landmark 1982 album Nebraska as an ambitious musician on the cusp of global superstardom, recording on a 4-track recorder in his New Jersey bedroom. The cast includes Jeremy Strong and Odessa Young.

Cooper said: “While Bruce’s roots will forever be in New Jersey, Los Angeles played a profound role in shaping his artistic voice.”

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is expected to world-premiere at Telluride, which announces its line-up next week, and screens as a Spotlight Gala screening at New York Film Festival.

Disney will release the 20th Century Studios feature on October 24. AFI Fest will announce the full line-up on September 30.
