EXCLUSIVE: That heated Joesph Gordon-Levitt-directed AI movie package we told you about back in December, well, we just learned it’s going to Netflix. And that’s not all: Spotlight Supporting Actress Oscar nominee and Tony nominee Rachel McAdams is attached to star.

Gordon-Levitt and T-Street felt Netflix was the right artistic home for the package after they blew away senior artistic executives, who were fully on board with the Inception star-turned-filmmaker’s vision. Aside from having the last two Knives Out movies, Netflix was also in business with Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman’s T-Street after acquiring its erotic noir Fair Play out of Sundance 2023.

Storyline is under wraps for the AI movie, which is being produced by T-Street. Gordon-Levitt has been passionately outspoken about AI, and wrote the script with Kieran Fitzgerald. Both are producers on the pic and share “story by” credit with Natasha Lyonne. Fitzgerald wrote the 2016 Oliver Stone movie Snowden in which Gordon-Levitt starred.

Gordon-Levitt and Fitzgerald are also producing.

Next for McAdams is the upcoming Sam Raimi-directed genre movie Send Help at 20th Century Studios. Her cinematic canon includes star-making turns in Mean GirlsThe NotebookAbout TimeDisobedience, Game Night, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, and on stage in Mary Jane. The actress is repped by Magnolia Entertainment, WME and attorney Howard Fishman.

T-Street

The latest from Gordon-Levitt reteams him with T-Street. Gordon-Levitt starred in Johnson’s 2005 feature directorial debut Brick, in addition to the filmmaker’s cult sci-fi movie Looper. Bergman produced Gordon-Levitt’s 2013 feature directorial debut Don Jon, with Johnson also giving feedback on the script and reviewing multiple cuts of the film.

T-Street’s third Knives Out movie from Netflix, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, bows in theaters on November 26 before streaming December 12.
