EXCLUSIVE: Cannes Critics’ Week prizewinner Flesh And Fuel has sold to North America and UK-Ireland for Pyramide International.
Strand Releasing has taken North American rights to the film and BFI Distribution will release it in the UK and Ireland.
The debut feature from French director Pierre Le Gall stars Alexis Manenti and Julian Swiezewski as two truck drivers who fall in love and try to maintain their relationship despite the distance.
Flesh And Fuel (Du Fioul Dans Les Artères) played out of competition as a special screening in Critics’ Week before the Queer Palm jury opted to give it the first-ever Queer Palm Revelation prize. It described it as “a first film that undeniably lengthens the list of great love stories ever put to screen”. It said co-stars Manenti and Swiezewski “embody the heroes who were missing from the pantheon of great lovers”.
Further deals include to Benelux (O’Brother Distribution), Denmark (Reel Pictures), Germany and Austria (Salzgeber & Co. Medien), Latin America (Synapse), Spain (Filmin), Taiwan (Andrews) and Israel (New Cinema).
Flesh And Fuel is produced by Ex Nihilo and co-produced by Poland’s Lumisenta Films Foundation. The film was shot in France and in Poland.
Pan Distribution will release the film in France on December 2.
