Rodrigue Jean’s Labrador – Autopsy Of Silence was named best international narrative feature and Jail Time Records from Dione Roach and Steve Happi won best documentary as both films won three awards at Tribeca Festival.
Labrador – Autopsy Of Silence reconstructs events surrounding the death of a ship’s cook during a storm and also garnered awards for best performance by Christopher Angatookalook, and cinematography for Mathieu Laverdière.
Jail Time Records focuses on a recording studio inside a prison in Cameroon. The feature also won for cinematography and took the Albert Maysles Award For Best New Documentary Director.
Daniel Blake Schwartz’s addiction psychological thriller Cotton Fever won the best US narrative feature award and cinematography for Tom Acton Fitzgerald. Another film to win two awards was Puerto Rican love triangle Summer Of Three co-directed by Marcel Ruiz, Paoli Schoene, and Kiki Montilla. The film won best performance in a US narrative feature and best screenplay.
