UK actor and filmmaker Noel Clarke has been charged by the Crown Prosecution Service with sex offences against five women.
Clarke, 50, is accused of two counts of sexual assault, three of voyeurism, and one of exposure between 2007 and 2016, according to a Press Association report.
He will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on October 21. The charges were brought after an investigation that began in September 2025. The previous month, Clarke had lost the libel case he brought against Guardian News and Media, for its reporting of sexual assault allegations against him from April 2021 onwards.
Clarke’s credits include films Kidulthood and Adulthood, and series including Doctor Who.
In September 2025, he was ordered to pay at least £3m towards Guardian News and Media’s legal costs; he was then declared bankrupt in January 2026.
“The women connected to these charges continue to receive support from specially trained officers,” said detective superintendent Mike Cagney. “We urge anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault to contact police. The information you provide will be dealt with in the utmost sensitivity and we have trained investigators on hand to support you.”
“Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring this case to court and that it is in the public interest to do so,” said Bethan David, deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS London.
The original Guardian investigation into the allegations against Clarke was published two weeks after Clarke received the Bafta for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema Award, which was withdrawn by Bafta in featherlight of the reporting.
