If the title of The Further Mis-Adventures Of Cliff Booth tells you anything, it’s that Brad Pitt’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood character proceeds to get up to no good. But the exact nature of what awaits him in the OUATIH sequel-of-sorts has been rather mysterious – until now. The latest trailer for Cliff Booth – penned by Quentin Tarantino himself, but with the great David Fincher in the director’s chair this time, and with Pitt back in his Oscar-winning role – gives our best look yet at the 1977-set follow-up, with more plot hints, and a greater sense of the Los Angeles ecosystem eight years after the Sharon Tate attack. Check it out:
While the focus here is on Pitt’s Booth – who’s working as projectionist, still moving in some Hollywood circles despite no longer working as a stunt double for Rick Dalton, and continuing to dine out on those ‘Bruce Lee fight’ rumours – we also see more of the rest of the cast. Elizabeth Debicki is Karen Crosby, management for Scott Caan’s actor Charlie Peters, who wants to get Cliff on board for a project. But, it seems, Peters is less intrigued about what Booth can do for him on-screen than what he’s capable of away from it. “You actually kill people,” he tells Booth. In true Tarantino style, there are hitmen, bags full of cash, and lots of shady dealings – all drenched in retro trappings.
The prospect of Tarantino and Fincher working together is extremely intriguing (and you can read all about it here). We’ll see what they’ve cooked up when The Further Mis-Adventures Of Cliff Booth comes to IMAX screens from November 25, followed by a streaming release on Netflix from December 23.
