“I thought it’d be nice to go on a vacation together.” Netflix has revealed the first official trailer for one of the fall’s most anticipated modern films – titled Possible Love, the latest feature made by acclaimed Korean filmmaker Lee Chang-dong. This is a must watch! Of course. This is his first modern film in 8 years since last making Burning, and he’s ready to premiere it soon – debuting at the 2026 Venice Film Festival starting up next week. It’s a tale of two couples in Korea. The first reviews will be arriving soon as it plays at the major festivals this fall. The story follows two married couples — a laid-off worker and his wife, and a documentary filmmaker and her husband — whose paths cross when the filmmaker sets out to film them, bringing both marriages face to face with their different lives and hidden desires. These complicated emotional entanglements challenge their existing relationships and force the group to confront uncomfortable truths about love and commitment. Starring Jeon Do-yeon as Mi-ok, Sul Kyung-gu as Ho-seok, Zo In-sung as Sang-woo, and Cho Yeo-jeong as Ye-ji. What an intriguing trailer! It ends on a very strange note, with many fascinating moments before setting up the characters. This will be a major highlight of the second half of 2026, for sure.

Lee Chang-dong’s film Possible Love follows the intertwined relationship of two married couples facing different paths and hidden desires. Mi-ok (Jeon Do-yeon) lives quietly with her laid-off husband Ho-seok (Sul Kyung-gu) and teenage son Cheol until a funeral brings them right into the orbit of Ye-ji (Cho Yeo-jeong), a documentary filmmaker chronicling laid-off workers, and her husband Sang-woo (Zo In-sung) — a couple whose affluent lifestyle stands in acute contrast to their own. When Mi-ok agrees to be filmed, she grows close to Ye-ji – and finds herself uneasily drawn to the unreadable Sang-woo. As their worlds collide, fractures begin to appear in their daily existence. Possible Love is directed by the acclaimed Korean writer / filmmaker Lee Chang-dong, director of the movies Green Fish, Peppermint Candy, Oasis, Secret Sunshine, Poetry, and Burning previously. The screenplay is written by Lee Chang-dong & Jungmi Oh. It’s produced by Lee Joon-dong, David Levine, Chadwick Prichard. This is premiering at the 2026 Venice Film Festival this fall. Netflix will then release Lee Chang-dong’s Possible Love film in select US theaters starting October 23rd, 2026 this fall, followed by a Netflix debut on November 6th coming up. Ready to watch?
