In the furious media scavenger hunt for any and all clues about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s mysterious wedding celebration, one Michelin-starred chef’s name has emerged as the likely caterer: Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
According to sources who spoke to The New York Times, a city permit to close the streets around Madison Square Garden suggests the wedding, or a related event, will take place at the venue during the July Fourth weekend, though few details have actually been confirmed. According to reports, even invited guests have yet to receive the specific location of the parties, only that they will be in New York City on Thursday and Friday. Several sources with knowledge of the plans tell Vanity Fair that they believe Vongerichten will be providing food for the festivities. Though, much like the guests, a source familiar with the matter says that even the caterer is waiting on official confirmation. A rep for Swift did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Vongerichten, who catered Donald Trump’s 2005 wedding to Melania and whose namesake restaurant is located in Trump Tower, owns some of New York’s most beloved restaurants, including the Mark Restaurant on the Upper East Side, Flatiron’s ABC Kitchen, and the Meatpacking members club Chez Margaux, where the Knicks recently partied after their victory parade. Could the club be preparing to host an after-party for the Swift-Kelce extravaganza? Chez Margaux notified members this week that it would be closed both Friday and Saturday nights for the July Fourth weekend.
One in-the-know source tells VF a post-MSG Chez Margaux after-party is not off the table, though it too has yet to be confirmed.
The moody underground sizzling spot, frequented by everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio to Jay-Z, houses both a Jean-Georges restaurant and a nightclub called Gaux Gaux. Draped in curtains, swathed in candlelight, and capped with a sloped red lacquer ceiling, the vibe is peak ’90s Indochine meets 1920s cabaret—a combination that sounds absurd on paper but works. With dim lighting, trick mirrors, private rooms, and nary a window, the space is perfect for a celebrity who wants to let loose in relative privacy.
Paparazzi photos of Swift, accompanied by Zoë Kravitz, turned up around Chez Margaux’s November 2024 opening. It was the best press the team behind the club—including Vongerichten, Michael Cayre, and Kyle Hotchkiss (who has since parted the establishment)—could have asked for, propelling the club not only to the heights of New York social life but onto the much wider Swiftie map. In the years since, Swift has brought Kelce to Chez Margaux multiple times.
