“Crawl back to your world above…” Prime Video has posted their recent first look at Balrog featurette online. This was originally premiered during the LOTR: The Rings of Power Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con this year. Along with the first teaser (view here), PV has released this behind-the-scenes promo about bringing the iconic baddies the Balrog and the Nazgûl (and Ring Wraiths) into the Rings of Power series. They’re not keeping anything secret anymore! Totally showing us a good look at this fan-favorite from the LOTR movies. Jumping forward several years, Season 3 takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war and conquer all Middle-earth. Benjamin Walker stars as High King Gil-galad, with Owain Arthur, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Charlie Vickers, Daniel Weyman, Robert Aramayo, & Morfydd Clark, plus Jamie Campbell Bower (as Galadriel’s long-lost husband Celeborn). The other gigantic announcement coming from Comic-Con is that Simon Pegg is providing the voice of the age-old Balrog creature (they’re a whole species in Middle Earth) seen in The Rings of Power. Yes, it speaks! Pegg appears in this video and is seen on set filming with Charlie Vickers as Sauron. Though they’re keeping the actual voice a secret until we get to hear it in the series when it airs this November. Watch the Balrog promo below.

In Season 3, Middle-earth is at war. 5 years have passed since the fall of Eregion. Sauron’s armies have marched across the whole of the world, conquering all in their path. A few isolated pockets stand between the Dark Lord and total victory – Khazad-dûm, where the Dwarves are now sealed deep within their mountain halls, and the elven realms of Lindon & Rivendell, which are protected by their Three Rings. But deep in the land of Mordor, in his newly completed tower of Barad-dûr, the Dark Lord toils day and night, obsessed with harnessing a power that will bring the last of his enemies to their knees: One Ring to rule them all… Now, the free peoples of Middle-earth – Dwarves, Elves, Men, Wizards alike – must find a way to come together, in a race against time to prevent Sauron from achieving his goal of utter domination…
