The ever-busy Guy Ritchie has recently ventured into the realm of the miniature screen, spinning off his 2019 film The Gentlemen into a Netflix series of the same name. Its second season is set to premiere on the streaming service next week, and now it seems that a third season of the series is already in the works…with one very unexpected cast member set to join the show’s ensemble.
The Gentlemen stars Theo James as Eddie Horniman, a decorated soldier and aristocrat who returns home to inherit his father’s dukedom. Unfortunately, he’s also inherited his louche older brother, Freddy (Daniel Ings), the various criminals Freddy owes money to, and, even worse, a drug empire his father never told him about. Eddie needs to have his wits about him as he makes his way through the British criminal underworld, but remains, through it all, a gentleman.
According to Deadline, Meghan Markle is in talks for a role on the third season of The Gentlemen. The talks are still in the early stages, and no role has yet been specified. Markle, who previously starred on the popular legal drama Suits, took a lengthy hiatus from acting after marrying Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex (himself an ex-military man, like Horniman) in 2018. After a dispute with the Royal Family, Harry and Markle stepped back from their royal duties and moved to California; there, Markle struck a deal with Netflix that resulted in the series Harry and Meghan and With Love, Meghan. However, in a recent development, they have announced a relocation to the UK, where Markle is apparently restarting her acting career. Last year, it was reported that she would cameo as herself in the upcoming Brie Larson–Jack Quaid comedy Close Personal Friends.
Season 2 of The Gentlemen will premiere on September 3 exclusively on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
