Homer Gere, Yvonne Chapman, Ellen Barkin, Willem Dafoe and Michael Douglas have joined the cast of Oliver Stone’s first narrative feature in a decade White Lies, which has wrapped principal photography across Europe and Asia.
The quartet join previously-announced Josh Hartnett and Leila George on what is described as an intimate and provocative drama exploring family, loss, pain, and love.
White Lies is told across three generations and stars Hartnett as Jack Freeman, a child of divorce who makes the same mistakes with his marriage and children as his parents did when he was juvenile.
Feeling trapped, Jack embarks on a lust-filled journey to escape that makes him feel more lost then ever before. When he meets a woman whose life is the opposite of his own Jack begins an unexpected journey on a path of rediscovery.
Stone wrote the screenplay and said: “The cast was a delight from beginning to end. And the Italian crew was the warmest I ever worked with. I’m profoundly grateful for this opportunity.”
Production took place in Rome, Bangkok, and Sofia in Bulgaria. Fernando Sulichin serves as producer alongside Maximilien Arvelaiz and Jordan Gertner for Sulichin’s New Element Media. Tarak Ben Ammar, Gianluca Leurini of Eagle Pictures, James Packer, and Jose Luis Manzano are the executive producers.
Stone won directing Oscars for Platoon and Born On The Fourth Of July in 1987 and 1990, respectively. His credits include Wall Street, JFK and Natural Born Killers. His recent documentaries include Lula and Nuclear Now.
