“Go home… while you still look like your passport picture.” Neon has unveiled one more final official trailer for the Irish witch horror film titled Hokum, opening in early May in theaters nationwide – launching the summer movie season. The first teaser appeared in December, the main trailer dropped back in March. A scarily anticipated follow-up from Irish director Damian McCarthy after his unsettling wooden man horror Oddity from 2024. An author travels to a remote part of Ireland to spread the ashes of his now deceased parents, unaware that his rented accommodation – an Irish inn – could be haunted by a vengeful witch. American actor Adam Scott (who is 1/4 Irish) stars as horror writer Ohm Bauman; with David Wilmot, Austin Amelio, Florence Ordesh, Peter Coonan, Michael Patric, and Will O’Connell. Reviews are good so far – it’s chilling and clever and has some frightening jumps. Catch it in theaters soon! If you dare.

Here’s the final official trailer (+ posters) for Damian McCarthy’s horror Hokum, from Neon’s YouTube:

When reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman (Scott) retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, the staff’s tales of an old witch haunting the honeymoon suite take hold of his mind. Soon, disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance draw him into a nightmarish confrontation with the most darkest corners of his past. Hokum is written and directed by Irish genre filmmaker Damian McCarthy, director of the films Caveat and Oddity previously, and many other shorts. Produced by Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Derek Dauchy, Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde, Mairtín de Barra; made by Cweature Features, Image Nation Abu Dhabi, Tailored Films, Spooky Pictures. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere (yet). Neon debuts McCarthy’s Hokum horror in US theaters on May 1st, 2026 early in the summer season. Who’s in?
