Paramount Pictures president of international theatrical distribution Mark Viane has promoted Ricardo Cortes to EVP of international theatrical distribution and head of Latin America.
Cortes will oversee the studio’s theatrical distribution strategy across international markets while continuing to lead operations throughout Latin America. He most recently served as SVP, Latin America distribution & marketing, and managing director, Mexico.
The executive joined Paramount Pictures in 2007 and has overseen regional launches of the Sonic The Hedgehog, Mission: Impossible and Transformers franchises, among others. Prior to that, Cortes worked at United International Pictures in 2003 as sales manager, Latin America and Caribbean based in Brazil.
Earlier in the day, Paramount announced that Josh Silverman will join as president of global products & experiences, effective October 6.
Silverman will oversee a portfolio that includes consumer products, live experiences, publishing, partnerships, and e-commerce for physical products. He previously worked at Marvel Entertainment, The Walt Disney Company, and Mattel, and reports to Paramount president Jeff Shell.
