Dune: Part Three really is hurtling towards us at sandworm-speed now. The final chapter of Denis Villeneuve’s epic trilogy is less than two months away, with massive ticket sales already – and if you’re still yet to get yours booked for December, the final trailer is here to ensure you hand over your hard-earned cash. Because, Part Three is – of course – looking absolutely gigantic, teasing an ending (for now, at least) with both galactic and personal stakes for Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides, and Zendaya’s Chani, as the forces of the Imperium close in on Arrakis. Check out the trailer here:

The stakes for this one are gigantic – not just because director Denis Villeneuve could be closing out an all-timer trilogy if he sticks the landing. With Part Three jumping nearly two decades ahead of where Part Two left off, things have clearly escalated in the intervening years. Paul is now a feared Emperor with the blood of millions on his hands. Chani, quite understandably, is less than pleased about that. And not only do the pair have kids in the balance of what seems a very tricky family lively (since Paul also agreed to marry Florence Pugh’s Princess Irulan at the end of Part Two), but his dastardly reign means there are plans to wipe him out for good, involving Robert Pattinson’s bonkers-looking ‘Face-Dancer’ assassin, Scytale. Oh, and Jason Momoa is back too.

There is gigantic action here, with more sandworm spectacle and plenty of war scenes. But the hinge of the trailer is on the bond between Paul and Chani. Hopefully Villeneuve will succeed in ending things on an emotional note, as well as closing out this chapter of his career with IMAX-worthy bombast. We’ll find out when Dune: Part Three comes to cinemas from December 18.
