As we wait for confirmation on who will portray the next James Bond, an iconic former 007 has just released the second season of his perfect replacement series. Tom Hardy‘s Harry Da Souza and the head of the Harrigan family, Conrad (Pierce Brosnan), returned for an epic second season of the Paramount+ smash hit MobLand on September 18. This time, the warfare has moved internally, as Kevin (Paddy Considine) believes his father’s time at the top is over.
The second season, which also stars Helen Mirren, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, and Anson Boon, might only be three episodes in, but it’s already earning rave reviews. Collider’s Therese Lacson praised Season 2 for showing a “clear evolution and maturation, showing that [Guy] Ritchie is so much more than a one-trick pony and proving that there’s still so much more that the auteur can offer.” But whilst you wait patiently for a fourth episode of MobLand’s second season, why not take a trip down memory lane and enjoy one of Brosnan’s most unlikely performances.
Back in 2008, few expected a former Bond to be singing ABBA side-by-side with the iconic Meryl Streep. Well, the cinematic moment we didn’t know we needed came to life in Mamma Mia!, the jukebox musical movie directed by Phyllida Lloyd and written by Catherine Johnson, and based on the latter’s 1999 musical. A toe-tapping celebration of one of pop music’s most influential acts, Mamma Mia! can bring joy to these frigid fall days, and is now available to stream on Starz.

Cue The Track
Your Anthem Is…
Four songs, four completely different theories about how a life is
supposed to go. Here is the one that has been playing under yours, what it says about you, and where
you have heard it doing the same job on screen.
Don’t Stop Believin’
Your life sounds like the most stubbornly hopeful song ever
written. It is about ordinary people on an ordinary night who have not given up on the thing
they are quietly working towards, which is a description of most people and almost nobody
admits it.
- You are playing a long game, and you would rather get there slowly than make a scene
about it. - The song famously cut to black on the last scene of The Sopranos, which is the single
most argued about needle drop in television history. - Glee then made it a phenomenon all over again, and a 1981 album track became one of the
most streamed songs of the last century. - The reason it works on you is the same reason it works on everybody, which is that it
never once promises the thing will actually happen.
Eye of the Tiger
Your life sounds like a training montage, and you are completely
fine with that. This is the song for people who need a bit of friction to function, and who
get noticeably better the moment somebody suggests they cannot do it.
- You are driven by the comeback rather than the win, which is why the second attempt at
anything is always your best one. - Sylvester Stallone commissioned it for Rocky III after he could not get the rights to
another track, and it went on to define the whole genre. - That guitar intro has been doing the work of an entire pep talk for more than forty
years. - The risk in this one is real, since a person who needs an opponent will eventually go
looking for one.
Dancing Queen
Your life sounds like the happiest song ever recorded, and the
clever thing about it is that it is quietly a bit melancholy underneath. You are the person who
makes an evening happen, and the room is measurably worse when you are not in it.
- You treat joy as something you build rather than something you wait for, which is a
genuine skill and an exhausting one. - Mamma Mia turned ABBA into a second career for a whole recent audience, and this is the
song everybody waits for. - There is a melancholy buried in it about a night that will not last, and that is
precisely why it lands harder every year. - Your friends would describe you as the reason they still go out, which is a bigger
compliment than it sounds.
Born to Run
Your life sounds like a song about getting out. Springsteen wrote
the definitive account of being newborn somewhere tiny and knowing, absolutely, that the real
thing is happening somewhere else.
- You are restless in a way that is not unhappiness, and you have never fully unpacked
anywhere. - This is the most cinematic song on the list, which is why it has soundtracked roughly
every film about leaving a town behind. - The record nearly did not happen at all, since Springsteen spent six months on the title
track alone and almost scrapped it. - What saves it from being straightforward escapism is that he is not running alone, and neither,
if you are forthright, are you.

Will We Get a Third ‘Mamma Mia!’ Movie?
Is a third Mamma Mia! movie on the cards? It’s felt like forever since the first whispers of a threequel began, and we know that Amanda Seyfried has campaigned for more, even hinting that she wants pop favorite Sabrina Carpenter to play her daughter. The latest update for a third installment came during an interview by Collider’s Meredith Loftus with the franchise’s executive producer, Tom Hanks. “Listen, my question always is, is the catalogue there? Turns out it is,” Hanks told Loftus. “All of these movies are an alliance amongst people who really want to make it happen, and if we can put that alliance together, I guarantee you it’ll happen.”
Mamma Mia! is streaming on Starz. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
