In the overdue ‘90s and early ‘00s, Ali G was a sensation. If he’s since been overtaken by Borat in terms of cultural ubiquity, he was once Sacha Baron Cohen’s most famed character – from Da Ali G Show, to 2002’s big-screen outing Ali G Indahouse, and even appearing in Madonna’s ‘Music’ music video. But it’s been a decade since Ali G last made an appearance, at the 2016 Oscars (a secret until Cohen literally stepped on stage in the role) – and now, he’s back to trouble Hollywood once more. Ali G: Who Iz I? is the official sequel movie, 24 years after Indahouse, and the first trailer is here.

Word of an Ali G sequel emerged earlier this year when Cohen was spotted filming as the character, and the shroud of secrecy was officially dropped when he showed up at the Wimbledon’s Men’s finals this summer. The sequel – directed by Cohen himself, his directorial debut – sees Ali G back to cause more mayhem, while also pondering his own existence in the face of impending fatherhood with his girlfriend Julie (Morgana Robinson). Though, any narrative is really just an excuse for the character to wreak havoc on an unsuspecting public. Who Iz I? arrives six years after Cohen returned as Borat for sequel Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.

Does Ali G still work as a character in 2026? Will the film prove just as worthwhile as the surprisingly decent second movie Borat movie? And will he be menacing Madonna again? We’ll find out when Ali G: Who Iz I? hits cinemas on October 23.
