SAG-AFTRA national members have ratified the four-year 2026 TV/Theatrical Agreement with the studios and streamers after a 91.4% vote in favour of the measure.
The Guild said the deal contained “significant meaningful gains for a variety of member categories while protecting and celebrating human performance”.
Among the terms are enhanced AI and digital replica protections of members’ work, and a pathway to merge the SAG-Producers Pension Plan and the AFTRA Retirement Fund so that members will no longer have their earnings split between two plans.
SAG-AFTRA national executive director and chief negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland said the agreement “positions our members to shape the future of this business while protecting the value of human performance and creativity”.
Some 8.6% of members voted against the agreement and there was a 19.3% turnout. The agreement runs from July 1 to June 30, 2030.
A spokesperson for Alliance Of Motion Picture And Television Producers, (AMPTP), which negotiates on behalf of the studios and streamers, said, “SAG-AFTRA’s leadership brought a genuine commitment to partnership, and together with the WGA agreement, these deals demonstrate what is possible when the industry works toward practical solutions that support its long-term stability. We look forward to building on that momentum.”
AMPTP is currently in negotiations with Directors Guild Of America, which is traditionally not as hard-line as SAG-AFTRA and the WGA and is now led by Christopher Nolan. That group’s contract expires on June 30.
