Apple TV+ is bringing back your favourite besties — and this time, the drama is even messier. Platonic, the hit half-hour comedy starring Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, will return for its ten-episode second season on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, with a two-episode premiere. New episodes will drop weekly through October 1, and today, we’ve got your very first look. Rogen, the current king of Apple TV+ after his outstanding comedy series The Studio reunites with his co-star from that show, Nick Stoller — co-creator, writer and director alongside Francesa Delbanco — as Season 2 of Platonic reunites viewers with Rogen’s and Byrne’s wonderfully dysfunctional friends Will and Sylvia.
Having survived the awkward wreckage of their Season 1 reconnection, the pair now face a fresh round of mid-life chaos — including work stress, wedding drama, and relationship meltdowns — all while trying (and very regularly failing) to keep each other grounded. As the fresh teaser warns us — sometimes, being someone’s rock means you also occasionally crush a few things.
Alongside Rogen and Byrne, the fresh season will feature returning cast members Luke Macfarlane and Carla Gallo, plus the welcome addition of comedy all-stars Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, and Beck Bennett as guest stars. Apple TV+ has also released a sneak peek at the season’s tone-setting teaser trailer, which show off more of the signature mix of raunch, heart, and awkward adult friendship the series has become known for. And we love it for that.
What Can We Expect From ‘Platonic’ Season 2?
Earlier this year, Byrne spoke with Collider’s Steve Weintraub about the importance of having a script ready to go by the time filming kicks off on a TV show while discussing her role in the Mary Bronstein-helmed comedy-drama, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Discussing how production had already come to an end for Platonic’s second season, Byrne said:
“I know, and I just finished season two of Platonic with Seth [Rogen] again, so that was lovely to work with him again. It just made me think of the scripts, because that’s such a different process with comedy, and it’s always evolving and it’s a very fluid way that we work on those shows. So, it’s great to be able to mix it up.”
Platonic Season 2 premieres August 6, only on Apple TV+. The first season is available to stream now in its entirety. Check out the trailer above.
