Nearly a decade ago, when the adult-animated comedy flick Sausage Party jumped off the shelves and into cinemas, it’s unclear whether the minds behind it had any idea of just how popular it would become. While Seth Rogen was gunning for a feature-length sequel for years, he eventually got the next best thing — an episodic series. Now, heading into its sophomore installment, today marks the debut of the long-awaited trailer for Sausage Party: Foodtopia Season 2. With favorites like Rogen, Michael Cera, Edward Norton, and Will Forte returning to voice their characters Frank, Barry, Sammy Bagel Jr., and Jack, respectively, the next fresh batch of piping-hot episodes will also feature plenty of modern celebrity voices as the boys strike out on their latest adventure.

Things aren’t looking so great for Frank at the beginning of today’s trailer. He’s still (understandably) grieving the tragic loss of his beloved Brenda (Kristen Wiig) and can be seen having a string of gruesome nightmares depicting her brutal death. After he and the rest of his pals are exiled from Foodtopia, Frank has no choice but to lead his friends to greatness, which they soon find in New Foodland. At first, the food Mecca is the stuff of dreams, offering Frank, Barry, Sammy Bagel Jr., and even Jack a modern place to plant their roots, but something sinister is brewing beneath the surface. Luckily, Barry is there to get to the bottom of the mystery and what he finds is a food conspiracy that pulls their loyalties into question.

Meet the New and Old Voices Behind Your Favorite Foods

If you can expect anything from series co-creators Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter, and Ariel Shaffir, it’s a raucous, laugh-out-loud adult-animated comedy that puts regular food items in precarious and sexual situations. If you still have space in your heart to expect more from the quartet, it’s a star-studded call sheet, and that’s precisely what Sausage Party: Foodtopia Season 2 promises to bring to the table. Along with Rogen, Forte, Norton, and Cera, the next chapter will also see the return of vocal performances from Sam Richardson (Veep), Ruth Negga (Presumed Innocent), David Krumholtz (Oppenheimer) and Yassir Lester (Black Monday).

Lining the aisles as the modern foods on the block are Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises), Martin Starr (Freaks and Geeks), Jillian Bell (Brittany Runs a Marathon), Melissa Villaseñor (Saturday Night Live), Andre Braugher (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Haley Joel Osment (Blink Twice), Jay Pharoah (Saturday Night Live), Miles Fisher (Final Destination 5), and Patti Harrison (I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson).

Check out the debut trailer for Season 2 of Sausage Party: Foodtopia above and watch it on Prime Video on August 13.
