David White’s sports comedy Hot Curlers, starring June Squibb and Linda Hamilton, has been boarded for sales by Cornerstone Films ahead of production in New Zealand and Calgary in early 2027.
Co-written by White and Anna Taylor, the project is based on the true story of four newborn curlers from a miniature village in New Zealand who head to Canada to train for the Winter Olympics and end up moving into a retirement home when their budget runs out.
Produced by Kelly Martin for South Pacific Pictures and David White, together with Calgary-based SEVEN24 Films, the project is being backed by the New Zealand Film Commission.
Madman Entertainment has Australia and New Zealand rights, with Mongrel Media distributing for Canada.
Jayne Eastwood, Caroline Aaron and George Ferrier co-star.
