Sundance, SXSW selection ‘Buddy’ lands North American deal

Roadside Attractions and Saban Films have acquired North American rights to Buddy following its early festival run led by the Midnight world premiere in Sundance and Festival Favorites screening at SXSW.

Casper Kelly’s genre-bender produced by BoulderLight Pictures and Low Spark Films will open wide theatrically on September 4 and takes place inside a children’s television show that goes horribly wrong.

Cristin Milioti, Delaney Quinn, Topher Grace, Keegan-Michael Key, Michael Shannon, and Patton Oswalt star. Kelly and Jamie King co-wrote the feature, which is produced by Tyler Davidson, Drew Sykes, Raphael Margules, J.D. Lifshitz, and Tracy Rosenblum.

Kevin Flanigan, Dexter Braff, Roberto Linck, Nathan McAuley, Emilio Schenker, Gideon Tadmor, Adam J. Wilde, Geoff Yaw, and Ryan J. Kelly served as executive producers.

Roadside Attractions and Saban Films negotiated the deal with Range Select & UTA Independent Film Group on behalf of the filmmakers.

Buddy is a BoulderLight Pictures and Low Spark Films production in association with Sipur Studios and Substance.
