If you’re still yet to see The Odyssey in IMAX, we have good news. And if you were planning on catching Digger in IMAX and haven’t yet (I mean, it’s been out for less than a week), we have slightly less good news. Christopher Nolan’s summer blockbuster has been a complete box office smash, currently at $1.76 billion and counting. That has, sadly, not been the fortune of Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s film, starring a heavily makeup-ed Tom Cruise, which significantly underperformed in its opening weekend, with a current tally of $20 million worldwide. And in the wake of that outcome, it seems the IMAX schedules are getting a shuffle.

Digger – which was shot on film in VistaVision, similarly to Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another – was released on IMAX screens last Friday, October 2. But it’s been confirmed that from October 9, The Odyssey will already be returning to IMAX (and IMAX 70mm) screens, with significant demand still for Nolan’s Greek epic on the world’s biggest screens. At London’s flagship BFI IMAX cinema, Digger will still be screening alongside The Odyssey, with screenings for Iñárritu’s film through to Thursday October 15. In compact: if you’re hoping to see Digger in the biggest format (or, in cinemas at all) you might want to fast-track those plans.

Beyond Digger, the next films with planned IMAX releases are Street Fighter on October 16, and Godzilla Minus Zero from November 3. Keep your eyes out for more Odyssey screenings too, as Nolan’s film continues to pull in huge audiences.
